We invite you to Grow in Faith with us

Concordia Lutheran Church is a congregation gathered by God in Christ Jesus our Lord and empowered by His Holy Spirit to worship, learn, serve and grow as He feeds and nourishes us through Word and Sacrament.

We give honor and glory to God by carrying out His will for the Church and dedicate ourselves to following Christ's command to teach and preach His Word and rightly administer the Sacraments.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in the one true God, triune in nature, as the Father, Son & Holy Spirit who reveals himself through the Bible and through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, who came into a
sinful world to reconcile humankind with God through His love, mercy and forgiveness. We believe that we are saved by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus Christ and that it is our mission to carry His word to the world and to support one another in Christian life and works. (Eph. 2:8-10)

Lutherans believe that God makes Himself known through the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. The main message of this Word is that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile God and human beings. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again on Easter Sunday to bring eternal life and forgiveness to all people. God passes on this forgiveness of sins to people today through simple faith in Jesus’ life and death for them.

God has entrusted this Gospel message to His Church on earth. Our mission as Christians is to share the love of Jesus with the world, and to support one another in Christian life and works. As we come to know God's love in Christ, our lives are transformed. The Christian life is marked by love, joy and peace. In Christ, we can live in confidence, free from guilt, shame and fear.

About Holy Communion

The Lord's Supper is celebrated at this congregation in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine but his very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another.

Our Lord invites to his table those who trust his words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show forth His death until He comes.

Those who desire to receive the sacrament, are asked first to speak with the pastor prior to the Sunday morning service.

For further study, see Matt. 5:23f.; 10:32f.; 18:15-35; 26:26-29; 1 Cor. 10:15–18; 1 Cor. 11:17-34

Baptism

Our Lord Jesus Christ institutes Holy Baptism in the last chapter of Matthew saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” In the sacrament of Holy Baptism, God uses the simple plain water in connection with His word to bring about new life. Through baptism we receive forgiveness of sins, incorporation into the body of Christ, and become partakers of His suffering, death, and resurrection to eternal life. Acts 2:38-39, Acts 22:16, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:16, Titus3:5-7

At Concordia, we take seriously the Lord’s mandate to make disciples by baptizing. Baptism is available for all people from infants to the aged. Because the Word of God plainly teaches that we are all conceived and born sinful (Romans 5:12, Romans 3:9-23, Psalm 51:5, 1 John 3:8), we believe this gift is vital. God’s promise is that in Baptism, the Holy Spirit takes the forgiveness of sins and eternal life that Jesus won for us on the cross and delivers them to the one who is being baptized. In Holy Baptism we are reborn children of God and inheritors of eternal life. Moreover, by water and the Holy Spirit, we are made members of the Church, which is the body of Christ.

MISSION

Concordia Lutheran Church is a mission congregation of the SELC District of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Our mission is to proclaim the Good News of God’s love and to build and strengthen Christ’s family

Worship: Our congregation celebrates God’s gift of salvation as our faith is nourished by His Word and Sacraments and we respond with praise to Him for His goodness.

Witness: Our congregation tells other people in our community and around the world, of God’s love in Christ.

Nurture: Our congregation seeks to strengthen all aspects of each member’s  faith and life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Service: Our congregation reaches out in service to and support of others since Christ has loved and served us.

Fellowship: Our congregation shares a familial relationship that is ours because the Holy Spirit calls us to be one in Christ.

VISION

The mission of every church is to "go and make disciples" as stated by Jesus in Matthew Chapter 28. Concordia has personalized and internalized this great commission and has cast it as "Proclaiming God’s Word and Building Christ’s Family."

This statement enables us to focus our efforts on the ministries, programs, and activities that help us fulfill our mission and realize the following fourfold vision.

First, Concordia's members are active in the multiple opportunities available for meaningful worship and education for all ages.

Second, Concordia's members regularly pray and read the Bible such that everyone grows in their understanding of God and His Will.

Third, Concordia's members apply their gifts and talents to caring for one another and reaching out to the community through acts of kindness and support.

Fourth, when presented with the opportunity, Concordia's members share with those who do not yet know Christ as Savior, the meaning of their relationship with God and how believing in Jesus is the way of salvation.

HISTORY OF CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH

The seeds for Concordia Lutheran Church of Macungie were planted by our mother congregation, Concordia Lutheran Church of Bethlehem in 1983. Under the leadership of Rev. Raymond Malec, a small group of enthusiastic Christians began worship services on Sunday, April 29, 1984 at Allen Organ in Macungie. For the six following years, worship was held at borrowed facilities, primarily the Church of the Nazarene on Brookside Road, Macungie.

In 1987 Concordia Lutheran Church of Macungie was chartered and incorporated with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, officially establishing our congregation soon after. Construction began on the eight acres of land on Brookside Road with groundbreaking taking place on Sunday, April 16, 1989. The Service of Consecration in the new church building was held on Sunday, December 23, 1990. During the building process, most of the interior furnishings of the sanctuary were constructed by the members of the congregation.

In November 2000, Concordia called Rev. Waldemar R. Vinovskis to serve as the first full-time pastor of the congregation. As of Jan. 2004, by the grace of God, Concordia Macungie became an entirely self-supporting congregation. The congregation celebrated its 25th Anniversary on September 30, 2012, with a joyous service of music and worship at Allen Organ's Octave Hall.

With the blessing of the Holy Spirit, the congregation has grown to the point where the process has begun to expand our facilities so they may better support the present and future mission and ministries of Concordia and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod by proclaiming the word of God throughout the Lehigh Valley.
